Default 1985 G1 does not rev to max rpm

put new starter new fuel pump new carb and new belts
before changing all for new parts the cart reved and ran fast now with new parts does not seem to really go at wot moves good but does not spin the tires in gravel like before changes?

changed starter because of broken bolt where the starter wire hooked up
replaced fuel pump and carb due to old carb and just not adjusting right

Try swapping old carb back on?
Confirmed no air leaks?

yes I put a new muffler and rebuilt top end a month ago and ran like new and then a few days ago it started to bog down and run rough on start up so replaced the fuel lines and vacuum line and fuel pump ran good for 2 days then started pumping gas out carb vent and not running cleaned carb several times to no avail so put a new one on with a new drive belt after 25 years figured it was time for some new parts

Does the exhaust valve and linkage open all the way at wide open throttle?

New carb may not be jetted the same. New carb may have leak but leaks usually have less affect at WOT than lower throttle. New pump may put more pressure on float could try new float valve and float in old carb should fix that. Can also try longer/larger pulse line that will reduce the signal to the pump and reduce pumping pressure. Could read plug and re-jet the new carb. Those are my best guesses.

Not much to go wrong in the G1 carb. If you have the orig carb it will be better quality than the China versions. Pretty much a float, needle/seat, and jets. If all the jets are clear and clean, and the float is not cracked, and the needle is in good cond, it should work better than any aftermarket version.

I'd pull that thing apart and soak it in some warm soapy water. Get the brush out and do some scrubbing to get the dirt off. Rinse and soak again. Rinse well. Lay it out on a towel to dry overnight, blow a fan on it. Use carb cleaner on the jets, never use compressed air. Reassemble and install.

I've done this on 3 G1 carbs, 1 G2 carb, weed eaters, chain saws, blowers, mowers, etc. Works great.

The only thing that will cause the carb to overflow is a bad float or a pump that has too much pressure. The G1 fuel pump is very low pressure 1-2 psi, barely pumps in my opinion, but it doesn't take much to fill that tiny bowl. Just barely over gravity feed. Gravity feed will flow more.

Try the old carb after it's clean and dry. Can you post a video?
