Carburetor not closing all the way
O.k., well I have loosened the nut on the governor shaft and it is spinning freely and has been for about 2 - 3 months. Today I just realized that when I let off the gas peddle the carburetor is not closing all the way ?? It seems as if the governor arm spring is pulling more than the carburetor spring can pull and it is not allowing it to close all the way or something. Is this normal for the carburetor not to close all the way ? Also, my cart has never had low end speed since I had done this and adjusted the bolt coming out of the black box. 1/4 peddle press and click it starts, but wants to go and go right now :-) Is there a good way for me to get low end speed and still have the governor disabled like this ?? Or did I adjust something too much on the black box ?:

Re: Carburetor not closing all the way
Yeah I would start by shortening that rod that runs from the black box to the pedal.

Re: Carburetor not closing all the way
On mine I've gotta have the governor connected for the linkage to work correctly just like you're describing. There should be a sweet spot where you can get your low end back but keep the top end speed.

Re: Carburetor not closing all the way
So that's really the question then isn't it ? Can I keep the governor connected and still get my high end speed ? Or at least the rod and clamp back together and then zip tie the spring or something ?

First of all, what year cart is it? That knowledge will make a difference as to what you can do with the governor.

Re: Carburetor not closing all the way
Had a similar problem on my 95 DS FE290 turned out it was the gov cable that goes to the carb. It froze up from being to close to exhaust pipe. New cable on order.
