bad, bad, buggy
I agree. Scrap the DCX and get an XCT for sure.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
Has anyone ever gotten the toolkit software to talk to a laptop running Windows 10? the XCTs I have used have manuals with Windows XP/Vista screen shots, and in my case, hooking to my Windows 10 laptop it just refuses to see the controller as connected.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
With a DCX it uses a special serial connector. It requires a DB 9 serial connector. I just looked at my laptop and it doesn't have a db9 connector. Maybe yours does. Just reread your post. You are talking about a DCX? If not I suggest start a separate thread.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
I was asking about the XCT. Mine hooks up fine but Windows 10 refuses to find it. the software works fine on our old WinXP system we use for Fairplays.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
Controller is a 2011 model DCX 500 amp.
Working with TahoeDawgZ71 to replace controller, and upgrade cables. Hopefully, this puppy will run once upgraded. |

Re: bad, bad, buggy
I get the program to install, open, but it searches and can't find the controller and errors out. Same result with Fairplay software. XP, Vista it works perfectly fine. It's either the OS, or the newer USB 3.0 ports.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
That’s pretty strange. Haven’t had any issues with it yet. Unfortunate it only works on unsupported platforms.

Re: bad, bad, buggy
I think it's the newer USB ports of the Windows 10 system. The cables for Fairplay i know are only capable of supporting USB 1.1 on the old XP system--it has 2.0 too but they have the same problem--won't talk to controller. It does royally suck when some person who thinks his 2007 EvE is the best thing since sliced bread and can't wait has to be forced to wait and whine as i have to drag the ancient brick that is the Dell Optiplex system, CRT monitor, wifi card, Fairplay programming kit, and keyboard/mouse and rig it all up.
Our 'shop' is 90% outside space/showroom and 10% garage with two bays, one full of bad PowerWise QEs and dead Yamaha YDRE chargers spilling over into my work bay and shelves of unorganized tools piled to where the third bay is a claustrophobe's nightmare. if there was the room i'd leave that pile connected 100% for the one customer each year who is dead set against upgrading to a better car. The Fairplays with Kinitek were garbage. |
