1998 Club Car DS
I'm considering buying a 1998 club car ds. The person selling it says the batteries are bad. Are there certain things to look for, for this cart? Is it worth buying a non-running cart? Any help is appreciated as I'm new to this.

Re: 1998 Club Car DS
kendrikc there is no simple answer to this question.
This is the way I approach this situation: (unless you know the history of the cart and/or know the person selling it) Is the cart solid? Frame, steering, body, seats rotted etc. Is the charger included? If it's solid, and you had to replace the motor and/or the controller is it still worth the price? Will you be doing the repairs yourself? What shape is it in and how much do they want? |

Re: 1998 Club Car DS
a 98 could be a resistor cart or a controller cart....could be 36 or 48 volts....get the serial number and post some pics of the wiring / batteries and stuff...

They did not post and pictures of the batteries. I was told that it sat for 2 years. It’s a 48v I believe.

I can't tell much from these photos. Have you seen it in person?
Seems to be in pretty good shape from what I see. |

I have not seen it in person yet. I was thinking the same, that it appears to be in good shape.

Re: 1998 Club Car DS
Any way to call and confirm it is 48v? I think it is but can't swear to it.
I just bought a non running 1998 (48v) yesterday. |

Re: 1998 Club Car DS
They told me it was a 48 volt. They also mentioned that they had an 09 club car and that they were similar. Assuming their other cart is also 48v, is it possible to “jump” the cart to make sure it works? If so, what’s the safe way to do it to ensure nothing happens to their other cart?

Re: 1998 Club Car DS
I think it is pretty obviously 48 V with the powerdrive charger sitting there.
