Default 2008 Club Car Precedent Rear HD Leaf Spring Trouble

Hi all,
I am new to this forum (which seems to be a great resource of help). I recently acquired a 2008 Club Car Precedent from a neighbor which I want to install a rear seat on. As part of the conversion, I was recommended to concurrently install new rear leaf springs. The installation wasn't necessarily the easiest but was able to get everything back together. As part of the process, I had to disconnect (removed the pin and bolt holding it to the wheel drum/brake to get the triangular shaped plate under the thicker HD leaf spring) the driver-side brake cable to the rear wheel. Put everything back together and have what I believe are two problems:

1) The brake pedal seems to push down far too easy making me think when reconnecting the brake something happened where it is not active any longer?
2) There is a rubbing/grating sound of what sounds like metal on metal on the driver side wheel/drum. See the link below to a video of what's going on.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what could be wrong or any solutions?

Having recently installed HD springs on my ‘08 Precedent as well, when I got everything back together, I had the same rubbing issue - what I did to remedy was loosen up the u-bolts enough for the plate to wiggle, gave the bottom plate some light wacks with a mallet, and retightened. Noise was gone. Seems like the plate was slightly rubbing on the inner rim.

I also find my brake easier to engage, but I like the pedal feel now - but you can always adjust the brake by pulling the cover between the seat and the dash -

One thing to look at after a few rides is re-tightening the springs. Mine have developed a bad squeak and a little lube/tightening cured it.

Thanks for the reply! The U-Bolts were rather tough to get lined back up due to how much thicker the HD leaf springs are. Do you (or anyone else) happen to know what size U-Bolt is needed and if there is one with extra long threads to help line it up easier?

Unfortunately I don’t. I made them work, even though you’re right, they are a hair short.

Did you get this figured out? What was the solution? Did loosening the u-bolts and whacking with a mallet work? I'm having the same issue after installing out heavy duty springs on both sides of the cart.
