Re: 89 club car 36v stays hot, no neutral
Well, amazon got me the solenoid in 48 hours and it took a little longer to put in than I thought, the 2 small terminals were too close to the plastic case and a socket would not fit on them, even a wrench would only turn about 15 degrees. Then of course you drop the small nut, somewhere into the frame of the cart - or did it fall to the floor? Then I was paranoid, did the cable from the F/R go on the left or right side? It's tough getting old. I figured it didn't matter, I think it was referenced above this was the case. But how a

The only thing that matters is that the Solenoid big post where You put the cable from the FNR is the same post that has the wire that goes to the reverse buzzer.
The other solenoid big post has a single cable that goes to the VGlide. |

It's tough getting old. I figured it didn't matter, I think it was referenced above this was the case. But how about the small ones? Once I found the nut, I took best guess and it worked - either because I was right or lucky. I'll take either. Then I had to hoof the six 6-volt batteries out of my 'work cart' and reinstall - that was the fun part as you probably know - why cant they just make to opening such that you can just drop then in without having to shoehorn the 2nd one into place. Almost made me want to use three 12-volt trolling batteries. The cart ran fine - when you depress the throttle, there is a very noticeable clack of that solenoid. Because it's new? or aftermarket - but it works. While doing this I cleaned up the v-glide (in place) and noticed the main contact bar was plenty thick and the sweeper wire looked healthy. Thanks for your input - it was refreshing to read info that was specific to my problem and not a generic version that had to be interpreted.
ps: this is still a bum around property cart, not a showpiece but we painted an 3 on one side and an 88 on the other side and I swear it goes faster... |
