Default slowing down on the hills

Hi Everyone:
We have a 2015 CC precedent with factory batteries that came from a golf resort down in CA. We replaced a controller that was bad with a factory new one and the cart runs fine but now is slower on the flat and up hill. It even lurched a couple times going up the hill. batteries all have 8.10 to 8.45 but doesn't seem to be charging anymore with the ERIC smart charger. When we plug in we get a 3 flashes of the green light then a 9 or 10 second pause, then repeat that, and then the fast flashing yellow triangle appears. wondering if the charger is working. We downloaded the info from the charger with a thumb drive to the computer and found the last 10 or 12 chargers showed DC out of range/Batt no take current with a red screen. Previous chargers showed completed with a green background. Not sure what needs replacing so I thought I would check with you guys before we do.

Thanks for the info,
Chris

Quick check, measure the voltage on the cart's charger receptacle + and - sockets to make sure You get pack voltage.

The batteries are getting pretty low at 8.1v, try not to drive anymore until is fixed.

Hi Sergio:
We measured at the plug and got 7.70 but the charger is still flashing 3 times green in the square middle light on the ERIC charger then a pause of 9 seconds , then repeat, then 3 more green flashes and then the yellow triangle above flashes very fast and stays on till you unplug the charger plug. we bought new Trojan T875 batteries as they were over 5 years old and probably needed replacing. the total voltage on the new batteries was 48.8. Do you think the receptacle is bad or the charger?

Thanks, chris

That is Your problem, the cart receptacle should have pack voltage.

Did You move any wires around the Solenoid big posts?

The positive wire from the receptacle goes to a 30 amp fuse and then it connects to the Solenoid big post on the battery side.

Check the fuse, connections and wires for damage.

How do you measure the output voltage at the receptacle , I would think the plug does not put out any voltage until it is plugged into the receptical, can you access the receptacle from the back by lifting the seat?

we had to take off the kick plate on the seat frame (front) off so we could unscrew 3 screws to bring out the charging receptacle to put test leads on the 2 wiresin back. No room coming from behind seat frame for our unit 2015 CC precedent.

Thanks Sergio
yes we moved wires from solinoid but thought we had it back correctly. will check that tomorrow.

You measure the voltage from the front of the receptacle where you connect the charger DC plug.

The receptacle has a direct path to the batteries.

The 30 amp fuse is near the Solenoid big post and the receptacle positive wire should be connected to the Solenoid big post on the battery side.

Just want to say thanks Sergio as your analysis on our cart was spot on. Red wire on the wrong side of the solenoid, when changed the charger took right off and charged fully. Breaking in the new batteries slowly so they last.

Thanks, Sergio
