Default 99 DS Grinding Noise Rear End

I have a new to me DS with a grinding noise in the rear end. Wondering what options I have to find the problem. It happens on and off when I driving. I jacked it up and it is continuous when going in forward, but not as bad in reverse. Is there a port to check the oil in the gear box? I don't see one. Could adding oil make it go away, or do I need a new differential? I thought I got a really good deal, but we will see. If I need a new gear box, who sells them?

I found the oil port. It has plenty of oil.

Also found out the noise stops when I push the accelerator. It comes back when I let up on it.

Sounds like chatter from the motor coupler splines where it fits over the input shaft of the trans.
99 I think would have had a guide ring motor, If that's the case it's almost better off if you replace the motor and install a centering kit. But you don't know until you take it apart.
Is it a series cart or sepex?

Revolution has the centering kit if you need it. https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...ng-kit-am10039
Pretty sure that should not be a guide ring motor but you can ask David his opinion if you give him a call. I’d pull the motor out first and make sure of what you have before ordering the kit.
The motor coupler is pressed onto the armature and not easily replaceable. The centering kit puts slight pressure on the armature so the coupler doesn’t wobble on the input shaft anymore.
This only applies if it has a solid coupler. If the splines are steel all the way to the end then you should be able to use the centering kit.
When you remove the motor look for a snap ring in the end of the coupler and a brown nylon ring in the center.

What if I just drive it? Will the motor go bad? Will it ruin something else?

If its rattling now, the next step will be a very bad vibration at speed because of the motor armature being off-center. When it gets to that you don't have long before the armature strikes the inside of the motor case and starts causing permanent damage.
