I would not hook up batteries with run/tow in run, you are taking a chance you don't need to. The wiring diagrams will be in these.

I have a 2008 Club Car Precedent. 4 Batteries 48 Volt. We replaced the solenoid and had the controller rebuilt. All cables are new and clean. Batteries 2 years old . When we try to connect the battery we get a very large "ARC" like an arc welder, which melts the battery post, no matter how briefly we touch it. These are not little sparks, but a very large and loud ARC! Any ideas as to the cause?

Welcome to BGW! And it will be more helpful on future posts to start your own thread that way everything pertains to just your particular situation.

First:
-Did you have the Run/Tow switch in "Tow"?
-Do you have a voltage reducer (48<12) hooked up?
-When you installed your solenoid was it an OEM or aftermarket and could you verify everything was hooked exactly as it was?
-Did it "actually" melt a battery terminal or are you just seeing a large/loud arc?

Obviously you have a large draw coming from somewhere so we need to identify it. Usually it is something hooked up wrong or a converter is installed and there is a precharge occurring.

If it is severe enough to melt the post, you have something hooked up backwards creating a dead short. Double check all the wiring. Maybe nothing is damaged, but unlikely.

That's exactly what causes my arcing.
