Need a lithium kit recommendation
So my leaf pack will need replacing soon. I was interested in building another pack but most wont get to me til mid may at the earliest and camping season will be here soon. So, I was looking at the eagle 60ah kit for $1760 shipped. I have an upgraded motor and controller in my sig but might do an ac conversion. That kit has 160a continous. I will only be driving around campgrounds mostly. So my questions are:
1. Will 160a be good enough for the load from my controller? 2. Should I expect around 20-25 miles form 60ah? 3. Any other kits I should look at for the same $? |

Re: Need a lithium kit recommendation
From what I gather I would want more ah capacity to handle the load from my controller but most packs I see are around 100amps and this is 160 which is pretty good from my understanding.

Re: Need a lithium kit recommendation
I just really dont wanna throw out $2500 right now with wanting to also go ac drive. And I could build a pack but the cost would be around $1200 and I woulnt be able to get it built and installed til mid summer and would miss several camping trips by than.

Ah, not A there Augiedoggy, and yes, that was the recommendation before batteries got better and they we’re not able to supply more than 1C of continuous current. That’s not the case today. Continuous amps is far more important than Ah.

I do know the topic of how many amps those 100ah 12v rv/solar batteries actually put out come up all the time. And the topic of how many amps are needed comes up a lot. I use a smaller pack successfully myself as do many here. YMMV but yesterday I drove my cart around the block in testing by myself and my bms showed 120amps peak and 70-50amps while accelerating...I would think that would be much higher if I had 3 passengers. I have a stock motor and 20" tires. |
