Default Runs 10 minutes then shuts off, wait 5 then runs again...

My 05 EzGo has just about all new stuff on it. I have only run it two times and I know it's hot outside (100 degrees) but after 10 minutes it will shut down, I am supposing due to thermal overload. The controller gets quite hot and I'm not understanding why they put the heat sink upside down and not ventilated.

I do have 6 ga wire which I will upgrade. It's all new and with new connectors. I'm sure the shop that rebuilds these doesn't know much about this type of stuff.

My question is will the wire upgrade let me run all day long? I got the cart for my folks so they can ride on our country property. It's sandy but not too hilly. I don't need to go faster but i want to be able to ride all day long on a charge.

I have 22" wheels and lift. My pictures show it well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm thinking about installing a fan on the heat sink with exhaust porting and seeing how that would work.

Thanks.

Is it a PDS system?
Stock controller?

Lift, big tires, rear seat??? all require more from controller and motor.

Have you tried setting the timer for a longer run? Set it for 20 minutes, that will give you about 10 more minutes of run time.

I assume its stock. I don't know how to check but wouldn't see any reason that it wouldn't be. What are some recommendations of new controllers?

I blew up his avatar and can't see the lever so I imagine it's a PDS. For this he'll probably need something equivalent to an Alltrax DCX 400 or better with an adapter harness plus 4ga cables.

The probledm is you have a lifted PDS and the controller is doing just what it is designed to do - which is to shut down when it overheats. You will need to upgrade to an AllTrax 400 amp controller. Don't forget to also add 4 gauge wires to the entire system, too...
