Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
As I keep thinking about this thread I can only come up with this.
What a great business opportunity for you to build kits to accomplish this! So many people I think would live to switch over, after you build the first few Kits it would be like child’s play and you would be able to provide complete kits in a fraction of the time as this one took. |

Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
I would not touch a business selling Lithium batteries with a 10 foot pole! I do my own stuff but without a bunch of liability insurance I would not do anything for anyone else. I know my abilities and limitations. This stuff is downright dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
Most of the suppliers out there now are giving good instructions or the parts needed to make a good assembly. Now for the DIY'ers out there just buying parts off eBay and starting out, they are the ones that truly need to get very educated before attempting that. It is so much more then just buying some modules and sticking them together....

Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
Considering this thread is 3+ yrs old and has not been followed up by the OP, I doubt his lithium kit will ever come into being.

Me too - but only to find out what he had in mind. Did not notice the original date.

Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
The OP probably figured out what you did - high costs, limited market, and liability.
Same conclusion I came to after spending months researching and talking with lithium battery manufacturers. The investment required is significant, the product is dated and requires temperature controlled storage and maintenance, only a small percentage of the cart community can afford or is willing to afford spending 3-4 times what replacement batteries cost for this power pack. As much as I wanted to build one personally - I realized it was to no advantage for the business. I'll be listing my 100a lithium pack and charge system in the parts section. |

Re: What is the interest in a complete lithium battery conversion kit
You can do some damage with FLA batteries but they do not combust like Lithium batteries can. Yes you can have a H2 explosion from seriously overcharging them - seen that happen - but it doesn't usually burn your house down. Acid can burn you too but for the most part you can abuse FLA batteries without doing any harm to you or your house. Not so for Lithium! Lithium fires are violent and very hard to extinguish.
