converting to 48v

Hi new to the forum and golf carts , my wife got me a 36v 1990 club car for hunting . I have lots of work a head have done the 8" lift kit and wheels tires . ANYways as im using for hunting would it be worth going 48v for more power and torque or am i fine as it is and would it handle a small winch ?????......

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new cart..... how about some pics?
You didn't say what size tires you put under that lift? 36v motors do well on 48 volts. You will get more torque & speed. But it needs to be done correctly to avoid heat problems You will need a good 36 or 48 to 12v converter to run the winch properly....

oh the wheels are 10x7 rims with 5x2 offset and the tires are stryker 22"x11"

Thanks Rusty ... and scotty for the info , what kind of parts do i need for the power and torque and what size , i dont want to shell out money for the wrong parts and burn stuff up .. i did manage to finnish my back lights and get the front fenders on tonight , also ordered the brush guard looking for black powder coated rocker panels with nerf bars kinda hard to find

A proper conversion will include a set of 8v batteries or 2 more 6v in the bagwell. A 48v charger, a potentiometer, a controller, and 4 gauge cables... Probably about $1000 to $1500 investment on average. Depending upon your resources

I have a 03 CC I use for hunting. Better get 1 that will actually pull some weight or you will be mad when you cant pull it out w/ a "small winch". you will get stuck! sooner or later. I have a warn 3000#, Have you thought of how much that cart and 6 batteries weighs? CC makes a locking rear end that is great . both rear tires pull instead of one. It is called intellilock and is made for CC"s w/ Grazio rear axles. Cost about 350.00. I installed it In less than 1 hours w help of extra person.

scottyb, here are some pic of my cart. the 36 volt belongs to my hunting buddy. the add on are the same but he wanted a flip down seat. he is not ready to go to 48 yet. want to get the pb-6 and controller hooked up to see how it does. Having trouble with wiring the PB and controller. I know where the motor connections to controller and bateries go. also solenoid.
