Spring on splined input shaft for transaxle
My neighbor and I have been doing motor swaps between stock and PQ motors in both our carts. His has a spring on the 10 tooth input shaft that keeps pressure on the armature into the motor, my cart does not. Mine is a 36V(converted to 48V) cart and his is a 48V originally. Is mine supposed to have been there, as I feel this is contributing to a vibration/groan I get while accelerating through a certain speed/resonance. Did my 36 cart ever have one and it disappeared over the years...what is the purpose of this spring?? I don't see it in the service manual anywhere.

Re: Spring on splined input shaft for transaxle
I just did work on my '96 48V and there was no spring either. The only reason I can see for the spring would be to prevent the armature from sliding farther onto the spline. Does your motor shaft have a plastic groved piece at the end of the motor roter?. This got worn on my 96 and was causing a "clicking" sound on deexeleration. You need Lockman, Morrison or Scotty B to answer for sure.

LOL--Robby can talk--no doubt about that I actually feel bad and try to end the conversation, but he has sooo much good info to share. GMorrison you are right and I didnt think about that, I just shipped 2 motors to them so they will be calling on Friday to discuss options, I will ask then.
DUH! sometimes the answer is so obvious you cant see it |

Re: Spring on splined input shaft for transaxle
Yeah but some times you get 10 answers which drives me crazy.
they need a table which is like OK Pick 1 from Column 1. , then Pick one from Col 2. and it keeps limiting your choices as U work down. Toooo many options |
