Default 48 volt club cart motor

Hi I have a stock 97 48 volt club cart with a 275 amp controller and need to replace my motor . I found a 5.5 hp club car motor would this work ok with a 275 amp controller or would I need to upgrade . If I can get the same speed and torque that I had with my stock motor that would be fine until i could upgrade the controller. Or would the motor try and draw to much current and really bog down. Thank You

A bigger motor will want to draw more amps requiring a bigger controller

All things being equal, your road speed would be dependent on motor RPM, not HP.

So to get the most from this motor would I need say a 300 amp or 400amp controller. I already have 4 gauge wires and new trojan t875 battries. where would I find a good controller. thanks
