need selonid help

Hey guys i just got an 81 club car 36v with 5 selonids in it. my question is how much amps run through them? i want to get bigger motor for it. or will cart move ok with 8:1 gears in it. it has the baldor motor. 2hp 36v 57 amp (has to draw more than 57 amps).

You shouldn't worry about the solenoids. They will handle allot more than 57 amps. Its the resistor coils that will burn if you use to hot a motor.

A ? is do you want bigger motor for more speed more torque or both.
Is this the original motor?
If yes ,a rebuild would do a world of good to improve performance.
