My first impression that there was not much difference between torque and speed modes, but it still has pretty good torque. I have not found a hill that it will not climb, and trust me i have been looking. I live on the texas gulf coast so it is pretty flat around here, but i live near a golf course which has some nice hills, it slows going up put powers through the hill pretty well.
