no brake lights

I have a 2000 Club Car bought used. I missed the no brake lights but probably would have bought it anyway.

Dual filament bulbs- the turn signals and hazards work. Bulbs are clear with no break in the filaments.

Disconnected brake light switch underneath. I have continuity when the pedal is depressed. No voltage on either lead when measured from the frame.
It seems like one lead should be hot assuming the brake lights should work when cart ignition is in the off position.

Pulled 2 fuses (one near the charger socket, the other in the rear of cart). Wire is continuous and fuse is clear. Did not check it. Had to repair my meter.

Is there a seperate in-line fuse for the brake lights some where?

Any suggestions?

Try Checking Your Brake Light Switch By Grounding Direct To Neg Side Of Battery Where Power Source Is Connected To Pos.-- And Lights Are Not Supposed To Be Grounded To The Frame.-- Bulbs Sound Ok With Directional/hazard Working.-- Switch Sounds Suspicious.

I did disconnect the leads at the terminal of the brake light switch (underneath) and got continuity across the terminals when the pedal was depressed. Wouldn't that eliminate the brake light switch as being the source of the problem?

Golf carts are new to me.

So here's another question.

When the parking brake is set, then the brake lights have to be disabled or they would remain on because you must depress the brake pedal in order to set the parking brake. Wouldn't this problem be related to that? (The brake lights staying off because the parking brake is stuck in the disabled position even when it is released).

You just shot my idea down, I had missed your testing method on the post. I am going to look at neighbors CC cart and see if I get any ideas. If you are getting continuity with pedal pressed doesn't this negate the parking brake problem??

When the parking brake is released that switch behind the brake pedal should be closed. (when the parking brake is depressed that switch must be open or your brake lights will remain on).

For some reason, I am not getting complete continuity (removed the leads) across that switch behind the brake pedal when the parking brake is released. It's giving me a resistance of @ 90ohms so maybe that threaded parking brake rod is out of alignment. I have to go to work but I think I'll pull that switch behind the pedal- you must remove the rubber part on front of the pedal first I see- and I'll see if it zeros out when the parking brake rod is taken out of the equation.

Again, thanks for your help and any further suggestions you can come up with.

I'm not sure what setup you have, but on my 2000 DS there is a contact switch underneath the cart that can get hung up one way or another to either make the lights stay on (which is how I found it) or make them not come on at all if the "gap" is not right.
