Re: 98 club car limo 48 volt
Sounds like the OBC is failing. Give a gentle tug on the grey wire coming out of the carts charge recepticle....easy...it is a soldered connection. These corrode and come loose and will also cause carts charger not to kick on.

Re: 98 club car limo 48 volt
I jumped the wire and it is charging. Can I leave it like this as long as I don't over charge?

I'm still charging and the gauge hasn't moved a notch. Is it that slow? It's been about 2 hours.

Re: 98 club car limo 48 volt
If batteries are in bad shape, or in deep discharge, it could take a long time for them to come up....if they come up at all. After charging, take your volt meter and hook it up to each battery individualy with alligator clips and from a dead stop accelerate wide open. Do this for each battery...one at a time....and record voltage for each. If not alot of difference in voltage readings, drive the cart until it starts to slow and then test. This will tell you what kind of voltage the batteries are holding under a load. Still sounds like a bad OBC has caused damage to the batteries.

Re: 98 club car limo 48 volt
I think I am taking it in to a club car guy today. Can I get everything fixed and leave the batteries for a week or 2? I understand if they are bad they will die quick but will that mess anything up?

Re: 98 club car limo 48 volt
If you get everything fixed, you can leave the cart for 45-60 days and it will be ok. That is a new set of fully charged batteries will be fine for 45-60 days. You are right though, if batteries are bad or weak they will drop off really quick. It shouldn't cause any problems except if your barrerie are reall low, it stresses the OBC and the charger trying to bring them back up.
