Re: My resistor to controller conversion adventure
Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the PB-6 that you refer to? Thanks!

Re: My resistor to controller conversion adventure
IN the immortal words of Homer Simpson...WHOO HOO it works
It did take some adjusting, but It turned out to be a solid install and nice smooth operation. There is also some adjustment in the cable for later use if/when the cable stretches a bit from use. .. Welll tomorrow I tear out all the wires and VGlide crap...and move on to the controller. That should be a bit easier to install. |

Re: My resistor to controller conversion adventure
PB-6 stands for pot box...its basically a rheostat attatched to the throttle that tells the controller how much you are pushing on the throttle pedal and thus the controller release the proper amount of voltage to the motor...basically

Re: My resistor to controller conversion adventure
Tonight I reinstalled the front body and buttoned up all the wiring up front for the pb-6 microswitch and tidyed up some other wiring since it was right there in my face. Took off rear body and ripped all the wiring and VGlide out and man...there sure is a lot of cables. Took longer than I expected, it always seems easier in my head than actually doing the work So tomorrow I can start mounting up the controller and I am going to move the solenoid to behind the batteries as well for a nice clean setup.

Re: My resistor to controller conversion adventure
Im stealing your ideas on this one from the many pictures you have posted on these conversions. One side of controller will rest on the original crossmember for the old coils, and I will lay a picee of "L" aluminum across the frame rails for the other side of the controller. I also have 2" aluminum L left over from pb-6 brackets...so I am seriously considering mounting the solenoid to a piece of that, and then moving that to the crossmember from the coils as well, right next to the controller....what do you think? This way the solenoid could be facing with the studs on top, easy to get to and service if needed. Its a pain how they have it squeezed in front of the batteries and laying down on its side, tough to get at terminals.
