I'm fine with mine as long as she leaves my safety scissors alone and don't eat my paste.....

Carefully take the bussbar off of the solenoids. Its the copper strip that runs across the large poles on the solenoids. after you get the bussbar out of the way, hook the main neg. battery cable back up. Turn the key on, put F&R in forward. Take a voltmeter set for continuity and place leads on both large terminals of the 1st solenoid on the drivers side. This should be #1. As you mash the accel pedal, the solenoid should engage/click and your voltmeter should beep or show continuity. Do this for all of the solenoids. My guess, if you are hearing a click, they are energizing, but not making contact on the inside.
I have read the thread and I have an 83 thats running fine in forward but has very limited reverse . I tested the solenoids and all have continuity but the last two ...is that why I have no get up on hills and no reverse ??

Sorry for the delay. We have had a family member ill, but she is better now
I removed the buss bar and found the #1 solenoid melted under the buss. It did go to zero when pedal was pressed. #2 did also.
3,4,& 5 did not.
I am sure I need to replace #1. I am not convinced that is my only problem. What do you think.

The last two are the higher speed solenoids and unless someone has rewired your cart, reverse only runs off three of the six batteries. Thats what cuts the speed down so reverse is safer. So, if you have a cable...maybe green or red...going to the center battery off of the F&R switch, move it to the main positive with the other cable. Replace the 2 bad solenoids, and enjoy.
