Default Broken axles

A buddy has a 2000 villager ds cart and about 2-3 months ago broke an axle on the passenger side of his cart. He got it replaced with a new axle and the new one has now broken again in under 3 months. Cart is not overloaded and used 100% on the street and is florida street legal. He cannot figure out why it keeps breaking the axles, specifically the one on the passenger side. The axle was replaced by a golf cart repair shop so I don't have much more info on the new one. Is there aftermarket ones that are better or worse? Maybe he just got a bad axle? The first axle lasted 17 years!! Cart has Jake's long travel lift kit and Honda 20 hp motor swap kit also made by Jake's. Stock club car clutches. He does have a high speed gear set installed in the rear end. Also has mechanical disc brakes on the rear axle. Posted in multiple sections because I don't know which it goes in and might get more response in one area than another.

Honda 20 hp motor. Stock clutches. Drives normal on it I'm sure once in while it may get dogged out of a hole from a red light but nothing crazy.

Let's be clear, it almost certainly did NOT have a 20hp Honda engine, wheel spacers, large tires, high speed gear set, the roll cage, and the "Off Shore Racing" decals on it for seventeen years. It has gotten more severe service in the past few years than the first several of those seventeen. Whatever broke the first one broke the second one.

Did it twist in two or just break? On the passenger side might be more likely if due to hard driving. We Americans tend to turn left harder than right. The cause is probably more subtle than obvious.

All the torque being placed on the axle where its broken is caused by the spacers and offset wheels he's got on the cart. Those 2 things will cause break 1 & 2 & it will do it again...
