Re: controller blow up?!@$$#@
ahem... racing probably? If he put that motor that says something!!!
Controllers are likely to fail sometimes, Curtis are good and reparable controllers there's few places you can find replacement rebuilt. Probably capacitors blow up when the motor was hitting high RPM. The raptor is rated for 5300 rpm around on 36v and on that event the controller gets very hot! Is this a lifted cart or stock? I suggest he install 2awg wiring for that setup, the bigger gauge wiring helps to dissipate heat a lot, I would even install 1/0!!! |

Re: controller blow up?!@$$#@
its a limo cart seats 8 people. he put that motor in cuz he could only go 8-10 mph with the gears that were in it. so they put that motor in. now it goes 16-17 mph. not sure but i think it has 16:1 gears. also the 4 gauge wires to fnr switch are 10 feet long.(cart zone said system would be fine set up that way)

Re: controller blow up?!@$$#@
I am having trouble following this, but are you saying they bought an upgraded motor and controller, but ran the new motor on the stock controller?
If that is the case, it is not surprising it blew up! Double the speed will probably take 4 times the power, the stock controller won't handle that.. ..a |

Re: controller blow up?!@$$#@
ok to set story straight. the cart was bought yes its an 8 seater. it came with a 400 curtis controller and electric systems motor tag said it was 2hp and turned 2800rpm. all we wanted was more speed. so got motor that turned 5000 rpms. to double speed it went 8-10 mph. it has 16:1 gears. talked to cart zone gave them everthing the cart had on it. they said it would work with the setup i had. end result cart had 4 gauge wires 400 controller and raptor motor with hd fr switch and noid. systemshould have worked. but yes its an 8 seater that was my concern. so what is the right way to speed the thing up. they have a 700 controller on way. will it blow up again?
