Re: upgrading to new motor
Issues? Issues sound like a negative thing... Let me see what are the issues with having more hp in my gutless cart? None that I know of Except your wallet will be lighter..... While you are at it consider a 23 for about the same $ .... Plenty of power to pull your car.... Hope I didn't offend. It Just kinda hit me like what's the issues with my girlfriend getting a boob job?
Can you be more specific? |

Re: upgrading to new motor
I enjoy mine. It now does things other carts just dream about .... Lets put it this way... hundreds of members have done this upgrade and I think we have yet to hear anyone say they wish they hadn't done it .... Just do not go too small (16hp) go 23hp for just a couple hundred more and really have an increase in power

Re: upgrading to new motor
What Scotty is "elequintly" trying to tell you is... "YOU" will not be DISAPPOINTED! 18hp minimum, 23 better. You can "build" these Vtwins just like you would your Cuda motor, just depends what $ you want to spend and what you want out of it. The torque, speed, sound would fit your "Cuda" to the max I have built several for racers to tow there cars and everyone has had nothing but good things to say. There was a real decline in raceing (in the pacific NW) this last year, but hopefully the guy's can find some extra money and some sponsor money this year. Good luck on your build.

Re: upgrading to new motor
It is all your budget, you can get kits too that make it install faster than fabricating and tracking down the parts.
But you can do some things to make the stock one pull better, a non-lifted cart could have a lot of pulling power. I pull a 19' V8 powered boat around with my lifted cart, in the grass too, and it is not a small or light boat. If you want to go cheap you can get a honda clone motor but have to fab up a mount and all. They are up to what 16hp single I think, it is posted here someplace. On the other hand you can mod a 35hp B&S to about 60hp if you go hog wild. You will need wheelie bars up to 40+mph. The 18hp is one of the fastest ones stock I was told. It can rev higher, with just the hi rev kit it will take most carts out for speed. I'm sure larger might help a little more for pulling, and you can build up a 23hp pretty stout if you mod it. |
