Thumbs up Workhorse Tire Sizing

Newbie to this site and glad to be here, looks like alot of good info. My question is how big of tire can I put on my workhorse with stock rims. They are 10" rims 9.5 width. Looks like if I go any wider I will rub on the frame. How big of tire can you put on these things without new rims or mods to the suspension? Thanks for the help

Hi owie.. Some workhorse's have a 4" dropped axle from the factory some have straight axles, if you have the dropped axle I would say 22x11x10s. If you have the straight axle your wasting your time or it's time for a lift.

I always buy my tires and rims mounted (they are tough to mount) and you can buy silver (powder coated) 10x8 off set wheels for 30 bucks a piece. (your's are probably 10x6s)

Check out Ruredy's first green Workhorse, he had the straight axle.. after the dropped axle them are 22x11x10s

22's are as big as you can go with a stock drop axle. My company makes a leveling kit for the stock lift that gives you an additional 1 1/4" lift in the front. This way you can run 23" tires on 12" wheels. I wouldn't say that about my company if I weren't in the process of becoming a BGW site sponsor. HEY - WHERE'S MY BANNER AD AT THE TOP?

What year and model workhorse do you have? Is it your tires that are that wide? The only rims I know of that are 10"x 9.5" wide are custom Douglas aluminum rims. If they are stock steel 10" ezgo rims then they are more than likely 6" wide with no off-set. If this is the case then your close to stuck with that size tires for those rims. They do have 22x9x10 strykersII on some ST workhorses with those rims.

Talking Re: Workhorse Tire Sizing

Thanks for everyone's input. Mike I actually spoke with you yesterday and you have a great deal on your website. Will probably go with one of your package deals. The sizing I used in the original post was the tire size. No offset on the current rims and that was the concern. Everything I have looked at shows a negative offset and I am already up against the frame. Thanks for everyone's help. 2000 Workhorse 350ST

negative offset is towards the outside of the cart, ie: deep dish rims have a neg. offset. You can pick up some older Polaris atv 10" rims that have the same bolt pattern as the carts (4 on 4") and they have a 2.5"pos-6"neg offset. I have them on my avatar cart with 27" tall x 12" wide tires and no wheel adapters and they clear the springs.
I wouldn't go any bigger than a 25" tire in your case (engine size) and you'll need to move the front axle under the springs if you want to fit something that big on there.(real simple to do that)

Theres a little more to the offset than I explained but basically negative means to the outside.

How old of a Polaris are you talking about?

Maybe my rims will fit on my workhorse.
