Default Shorter belt for speed & power?

Will a shorter or wider/slimmer belt improve an EZGO 89' GXT800 Truck workhorse performance?
if it will? ...What type of belt do you recommend?
No one in my area has been able to help with this..any info will be appreciated

Thanks

A 1" shorter belt will lower the final gear ratio on the cart and increase torque.
Use the ezgo 2 stroke belt on the 4 stroke cart.
This mod has its drawbacks:
Reduced top speed and harder shifting

Hope this helps.

There is a sticky at the top of this section that goes into detail about this and which belt fits best for each cart. But yes you will reduce the top end speed while lowering the low end. That is how it works. The object is to get more torque for hill climbs. It is not drastic but it is a help... and every little bit helps, right?
