Default 1985 Topend on an 82' Block?

My 85' G1 needs a new crank, so this evening I purchased an 82' G1 with a perfect bottom end. I read somewhere that the block is exactly the same on both years, and the top ends were interchangeable; is this correct? Also, only the jug is different, not the actual head, right? And I also noticed my 85' block has two hose nipples on the rear of motor, below where the carb would mount, where as my 82' only has one; what are these for? Do I need both? Thanks!

You can use the bottom end they are all the same. Just use the top end off the 85 and you should be alright. Top ends interchange every year except 82. Hope it helps

Yes you can use the 85 cylinder/piston/head/reed assy/intake manifold and carberator on a 82 bottom end.
