another question for you when you change oil in motor and rear diff how high do you jack rear end for levels to be right? do you raise it until air box is level to compensate for the lift? this is where my oil level is correct. also wondering about steering box grease you talked about how is this done thanks again for all the help

Motor gets just one quart, no matter what!! Then that is your new full mark!! Mine is about half way up the hash marks!!

Rear end, level it out some, just to drain the old oil out, Then there is a 10mm bolt down low, on the driver side of the case, close to the ring gear edge. Take out that bolt. The car can be sitting down on all 4 wheels now. Gently pry out the breather hose, (I use a screw driver to help pry it out) (they can be brittle and break). (I even broke a new one!!) Anyway, fill with synthic 75/90 weight till oil starts coming out that bolt hole on the side. Then I always put in a touch, sorry, "a smig" more, just cause,,,"If more is good, Then to much is just right"!!...

Ah, the "(Old Smallblock) grease the gear box trick!!" Yes, take the cover plate off the steering gear. Pack all the wheel bearing grease you can, into the gear box cavity that you can possibly get in it! Pack it full!! Took me twice to do it right! Replace the cover, then, jack up the front wheels off the ground and reset the jamb bolt untill you feel no binding when you turn the steering wheel lock to lock. This little trick is probably as beneficial as getting a torque spring!!

Everybody that has reported back after doing this says, "WOW!!" "That Smallblock knows his crap!!" Mac? not so much!!

ok don't know what to do next... replaced needle valve, rebuilt fuel pump, cleaned tank, replaced all lines except check valve? was out running around almost all day every once in a while it will sputter a little bit and seem boggy little pop or backfire? then it will be running great... I don't know if it's fuel or ignition?? when it's running good it's great. but this is driving me crazy are there any tests I can do to test CDI or COIL i'm thinking it's electrical because of the inconsistency ? any one else have this condition before?

There is a small 18 gage ground wire right in front of the starter that goes bad.(Connects to the starter ground and goes into the main wire harness right there). Can't remember if you installed lites on the car or not. And did u make sure you grounded those to the batt or at least to the ground lug on the starter. Check all connections period, even tight batt terminals.

Old gaskets on the carb and exhaust can cause poor running. They get brittle and don't seal.

You can test coil, they can tell you if its ok at this second in time, the cdi can not be tested, they tell you if all other parts check out, its usually the cdi. It was that way with mine. When it would get warm, cdi would quite, and car would not run till it cooled down. Then it would run again for a period of time, then start all over again. Check for chafed wire on the "crank trigger", don't know what its called in golf cart talk!!

If you have a small backfire when u let off the peddle, back out the "throttle stop screw" an eighth of a turn.

I think we have it narrowed down to coil or cdi? all grounds are good, good fuel, did ground upgrade "ground from block to battery" actually did two of them! one to block and one to engine cradle. lights are all ran direct to battery no splicing. Runs great for varying times. then spits and sputters like a twin cylinder fouling a plug, some times it cleans out and runs great other times just stays running like its missing. if anyone has ever dealt with this please feel free to share your solutions. did spark tester and when its running crappy very dim gets dimmer as you increase rpms them when it picks back up its bright flashes Thanks for the help.

Did you find the 18 gage wire in front of the starter, that goes into the main wire harness, (right there close to the front of the starter)? Black I think!? Might have to remove some of the tape, and look for a curoded terminal, or poor connection.

Take engine cradle ground off!

Over my head; need the smart guys to take over!!

Ok, some G9's are frame grounded, and some are not! Need Block or GC to come in here and straighten both of us out! Don't spend money till someone smart points us in the right direction!!

Don't know about a relay. Yamaha didn't use relays as far as I know.

Whats the relay trigger? Lights? Something aftermarket i will guess!
