Re: G16 dying out after warm up
10-4. Just need to change oil and try it out. (my other post) I'm also tinkering with the float on the carb so, may be a long day.
Thanks! |

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
TCI. good. That did the trick. Now I'm waiting to see if I get gas in the oil.
I'm feeling a little under powered on the top and bottom end. |

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
I'm running an NGK in it. the TCI did the trick with the shut off. Now I'm having power loss issues

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
I saw something on here about a tension cable that holds the motor in place if it is loose or missing the motor will slide towards the rear & wont let the belt ride correctly on the clutch giving you the wrong ratio. also could it have the wrong jets for your altitude? just throwing ideas out their as im new to this & learning.

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
Belts and clutches are good and run the range. Engine is tight in the mounts. I've run stock jetting for the last 5-6 years with no problems. As an example, I feel like I have a 4cyl and expecting the V8.
Last time I pulled the valves, they were pretty black. I wonder If I scorched them. I wonder if I should try to re-jet and mod the airbox. Another thing that I picked up now is that I get an occasional backfire. (getting tire of dumping money on an unknow issue) |

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
do you have a compression tester it could tell you if you burnt a valve or messed up a ring. don plowman said if mixture is not just right it may run good but hot also & ruin a valve or something

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
I'm right at 150psi on compression from my most recent test... I am thinking it may be a valve problem. There is no mixture adjustment on the carb unless you rejet and add some air intakes to the airbox.

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
150 is good for a 16 yr old cart. factory new is 164 & their lowest is 142 worn out. if you had a bad valve I would think the compression would be lower

Re: G16 dying out after warm up
Just tore the head apart again tonight. looks pretty decent. not too much carbon on the valves. Kicking around calling don at plowmans.
