36V PDS TXT to 72V Navitas AC Conversion
So I’ll be needing to replace the batteries in my 36v PDS cart this spring and thought I may use this as an opportunity to make some improvements.
My two primary goals are to install a Navitas AC conversion kit and a lithium battery pack (looking at the Roypow). Imapled had a good post in this thread where he listed the changes needed for a 48V conversion, but are there additional changes needed to go all the way to 72V? https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=172912 Quote:

1. HPEVS: https://www.hpevs.com/lithium_batter...LB_CAM_72.html 2. ECO Battery: https://ecobattery.com/pages/golf Everything else is not worth the time, effort or money install. If you go 72VDC nominal I would recommend you wait out for the 72VDC drop-in that Eco Battery will be hopefully releasing in the new year. As well, the best conversion package to buy is from Golf Carts Modified (if you live in the U.S.A.): https://golfcartsmodified.com/collections/ac-kits Best place for advice on Navitas install, purchasing, etc... is on the Golf Carts Modified group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/GolfCartsModified/ Navitas users, installers, engineers etc and folks like myself and others rarely haunt this site anymore... |

Re: 36V PDS TXT to 72V Navitas AC Conversion
Thanks for the reply.
I’m an EE and I would love to tackle building my own pack, and even reached out to one of the Eve battery vendors on Alibaba that is highly regarded on the diysolarforum, but my proclivity to drag projects out would mean that the cart might not be ready for pool season and the wife just won’t have that. So I need a drop in solution. I’d seen the packs on the HPEV site, but haven’t seen many examples online of them installed. I’ll have to give them another look. Do you have experience with the HPEV AC motors and Curtis controllers? I like them over Navitas because they post technical information on the website, but like the batteries I don’t see many people with them installed. If I end up going with a 72v system, will I still use the 48v harness or do I need something else? |
