Fun with Alltrax
I've been wondering if the cart can activate 1/2 speed reverse why could it not also activate the personality control.
A few emails with my favorite tech assured me I was on the right track. With a little reassurance, I got it working. The subject was the 2010 TXT48 with Alltrax XCT400. What I did was jumper pin 16 (reverse) to open pin 11. See pics. When power (+) is at pin 11 the controller goes from normal mode to user 1 mode. So now the fun begins - when we go to reverse we go an new user = a whole bunch of stuff can change... not just top speed but, throttle rate, and power can be reduced too. After a couple of test rides ( dog is happy) I got it pretty dialed. It's as safe as chocolate milk - I like it. I fiddled around and set my rpm limit to 2100, about 10 mph max I moved throttle ramp rate way down to 15% (50% is default) I like 35% for forward. I selected TURF mode for gentler transition. Reduced max amp flow to a stock 275 amps. Kinda fun stuff - this came pin configuration works for the IQ control too. TXT48 and CC IQ are the only 2 carts that share a XCT controller. Of course the same thing can be done with the SR controls but it's easier. Just put reverse power(+) to the J1 green for personality mode. There you have it = Fun with Alltrax. |

Re: Fun with Alltrax
So the goal was to give you a custom tunable reverse parameters? Or add another "personality mode"? Maybe I'm just thick headed here...

Re: Fun with Alltrax
More fun with Alltrax. I got my 3 position key switch & (after wringing out the 8 terminal 3 position switch) I'm drawing up a schematic for the XCT dual switch program mode, where all user modes can be selected with a key switch on the dash in a logical 1,2,3 progression - The key is removable in all positions so this will be the first 3 mode lockable application for this controller. I'm excited about this

Re: Fun with Alltrax
That sounds cool! How will the dum-dum kids turn it off (from mode 1) when they get down to the ice cream shop? (Not being a smart a--, serious question, my kiddo smacked mine into a tree once).

Re: Fun with Alltrax
I think this will be kid proof. All connections behind the in dash switch will be soldered & sealed.
The switch itself is a 4 tumbler security system device. Building the test model today ! |

Re: Fun with Alltrax
I apologize for the dirty cart pics but this kind of exciting R&D can't wait for a bath. The install is simple. Drill a hole in the dash, install keyswitch, plug into controller. Reprogram control for dual switch operation. Set the desired parameters for each of the 3 modes; normal (default operation), mode 1 and mode 2. I prefer to have the carts speed or performance escalate in this order.
Te key is removable in any position so the speed or performance can be locked in any mode. Perfect for kids and anybody else not cleared for 'OMG' mode like my wife I still like switching modes for driving in different situations - Like who needs a quick pedal and high speed in the yard or in the garage ? |

Re: Fun with Alltrax
I updated my program as follows.
I updated the controller when prompted by the software. This cart has a 300/350 amp peak Alltrax XCT control and high speed FSIP A3 motor on stock height tires. Screen captures below are from windows snipping tool. They pretty much show the slow, medium, fast progression. Notice the drive style and turbo change as I switch modes. Also changing is the peak amperage, throttle rate (acceleration), max speed, and regenerative braking. |

Re: Fun with Alltrax
Cool, that should be pretty popular. I understand now, it has 2 keyswitch.
