Tips for replacing battery cables?
Hi all,
Going to replace the battery cables on my 48v RXV this weekend - have got a 2 gauge set just arrived. Any tips for replacing? Currently process will be: 1. Place Run/Tow switch to Run 2. Disconnect B- 3. Drain energy from controller - key to reverse until goes silent 4. Disconnect B+ 5. Place Run/Tow switch to Tow 6. Replace cables with new ones 7. Test pack voltage with Multimeter 8. Place Run/Tow switch to Run 9. Test cart and enjoy! Have I missed any steps - any advice on cable replacements, i think the set i have has all the battery cables and the B+ to solenoid and B- cable - any others I should look at replacing? Thanks again! Toby |

Re: Tips for replacing battery cables?
Put switch in Tow first! Don't pull any wires while in run.

OK - so should be:
1. Switch to Tow 2. Remove Battery - then rest of order? |

Re: Tips for replacing battery cables?
Standard procedure is something like >
Put the cart in TOW. Disconnect main (+) cable to solenoid. Replace the cables one at a time in any order. Reconnect the Main (+) Switch to RUN. Test drive |

Don't forget a brew or two between cables.

Re: Tips for replacing battery cables?
Thanks Scotty!
The Repair & Service manual says to drain the power from the controller before working on it - Place Run/Tow switch to Run, put it in reverse and use the buzzer to drain the controller - will I need to do this - don't want any unexpected surprises / shocks as I change out the solenoid or controller cables! Will do this tomorrow and let you know how it goes! Toby |

Re: Tips for replacing battery cables?
48v RXV: What gauge should I use - I recently had an issue with a wire overheating going up a hill with four people on it and had to replace the battery. Is there anything special I need to do replacing the wires. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Tips for replacing battery cables?
Every time i replace Battery Cables I play the cart some old Country & Western music...Even if the cart does not appreciate it I do.
Double check how tight the cable are....I always go back with the large 9/16" flat 5/16" T304 stainless nuts...over 20% more surface area than a 1/2" flat nut |
