Regen braking question

I just put a new DCX500 controller and GE Speed/Torque motor. It has the regen braking feature on the controller disabled. Is there any reason why they disabled this?

Is there any reason I should leave it this waay or is it ok to turn the regen on?

Will make it run fast, and not slow down when let off the gas.

Because 99% of the people who upgrade their cars do it to eliminate this feature.

I have researched this as much as I could and decided that regen probably is active but does not work due to the speed sensor tricking the motor into thinking it is going so slow regen braking does not even come into play. At least that is what I put together with all my research. And plug braking is not an option.

I have decided to let it be, cart is running pretty good, just a little jerky when starting out, I tried all the throttle maps and found that inductive is the smoothest.
