F/R Cable not working to change gears
When we took our 2005 TXT out of storage, we noticed that it wasn't changing gears. It would go forward, but we couldn't make it go into neutral or reverse. This was not an issue last year.
We noticed the F/R cable was frayed, and replaced it. At the gear box, there is a nut to tighten or loosen the F/R connection. If it's too far in, the cart can go into neutral or reverse, but not forward. If it's out a bit, it can go forward or neutral, but not reverse. We have confirmed with the dealer that the part they ordered is correct. All else seems to be working normally. Any thoughts? |

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
Is the lockout in the out position? There's a spring loaded lockout that needs to be pulled out then turned to unlock.

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
Can you explain "lockout" ? I have the same issue. have not been able to adjust cable to do both reverse and forward. Only one or the other.

Yep, not sure what the lockout is either. There's a spring on the part that raises and lowers for changing gears - does that somehow lock?

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
It's a neutral safety lockout it's right down where the pivot springs and cable is. I've been trying to find a picture but I haven't had any luck. Mine eas engaged and I could only go forward.

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
I think I found it, and it doesn't solve it. It can still go forward, but not reverse.

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
Ok , this is not my issue either, it seems my issue is at the differential , I can adjust cable so it can either go reverse / neutral or forward neutral but cannot adjust so it moves the direction shifter at the differential from reverse to forward.

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
Sounds like the throw on your control lever somehow got shortened. Any slop or loose connections there?

Re: F/R Cable not working to change gears
Doesn't seem so, although it's actually very stiff.
