Shear pin? Rear end slipping
when i try to go, the rear end makes a slipping noise and doesnt move. my buddy says its the 'shear pin' tht broke, but i cant find any parts resemblng a shear pin. any ideas what this part is called or if that is is even the issue?
my unit is a older 36v ez-go, late 70's or early 80's i think... |

Re: Shear pin? Rear end slipping
Have somebody press the gas while you look at the axle nuts. If the nuts spin without the wheel moving it is a stripped hub.

Re: Shear pin? Rear end slipping
FWIW:
Some EZGO rear ends and motors (during the time you believe your EZGO dates to) had a helical cut gear on the end of the armature shaft that is keyed so it is possible to shear that key and effectively lose all propulsion. But by far, most EZGO motors have a splined output shaft except for those few years in the 80's that were different. Good luck. |
