Vibration (shaking) while driving my 93 Marathon
I put 22" tires and a 5" lift as soon as I got it recently. I didnt notice it with the original setup but it may have been there less noticably. It vibrates off and on, at ANY speed, braking doesn't effect it. Tie rod and hubs seem tight. Steering is loose and Goliath said fix that first (needs new gear housing). Will that cause the vibration? Also I need new shocks, will blown out shocks cause the cart to vibrate (shake) like that? I can't tell if it is only after a small bump that it shakes... Anybody had a similar issue?

I would fix the steering and install new shocks. If it persists after that, then start troubleshooting. A vibration could a lot of things.

Sorry meant "could be."
A vibration could be a lot of things. A tire, the motor, the steering, a suspension part, a bad tire, loose lug nuts, a bad wheel, etc. on and on. You mentioned the things you know about. I would fix those first. |

Re: Vibration (shaking) while driving my 93 Marathon
Check the drive belt for missing chunks? also the clutches can cause vibration when unevenly worn or a broken centrigugal weight in the front clutch. Excessively worn bushes in the clutches can effect it.
Try pulling the belt and running the engine to see if you still have the vibration, if so it is likely to be the drive clutch. if not then it could be the rear driven clutch or just about anything else. You dont say if it is just whilst driving or also does it running the engine in neutral. As Mooncarter says, it could be just about anything. Oh, and fix the steering first. A better description of the Shake, vibration etc would help but maybe it has something to do with the front end as you noticed it more with the bigger wheels/tyres. |

Re: Vibration (shaking) while driving my 93 Marathon
I put on new front shocks and it stopped the vibration. The pavement in my park undulates and it would get the cart bouncing/vibrating as the leaf springs didn't have working shocks to alleviate the motion. It still rides like an old truck but I can deal with it. Thanks all!
