Default 48 V CC Growling/grinding at steady speeds.

My 48V Club Car (ser# AA0243-21929 is making a loud growl/grind from the rear end at any steady speed and while coasting. It doesn't make the noise while accelerating or under load like going uphill. Before I tear into it, can anyone give me a good idea of what to be looking for. Thanks- Bud

I really don't have a great number of ideas. But, it should be easy to find.
Have you checked the lube level in the rear end? No leaks around the axle seals?
Pull the drain plug on the rear end and look for metal shavings.
Could be the motor bearings or the motor to rear end spline.

It comes from wear in the splines of the motor where it slides over the input shaft in the differential. When they get worn they tend to chatter unless they're under load. This is easily fixed by a motor centering kit from Club Car or a new motor.

Same issue with my '98 DS...turned out to be the rear bearing in the motor...not the easiest fix but doable.😎
