2012 CC - Need Speed Changed
Hello. I'm new to the forum. My name is Kelly and I am from Fergus, ON (Canada)
I recently purchased a used 2012 Club Car Precedent, 48V, standard engine, with a lift kit. I bought this cart for use in a trailer park. The trailer park inspector has governed the speed to 9 km/h (5 miles/h). I understand this is the policy and that it is for safety, but my cart barely makes it up hills or inclines. 1. Would the current setting be considered Speed Code 1? 2. What product do I need to be able to change this speed setting up and down? Or can I make the changes by hand somehow. All help is greatly appreciated as I've never owned a golf cart before. Thanks in advance everyone. |

Not sure what the speed codes translate to but that is slow. With just a hand held programmer you should be able to get it up to 15mph. I am surprised it struggles with hills set at that low of code. You may have other issues. At the top of a hill feel each of your heavy cables and see if any are getting warm..

Is this after full charge? And do you have a meter to test battery pack voltage? a full charged pack should read 50.9 volts or better.
If your cart is a 2012, then your batteries may be 2012 as well. The batteries could be the problem. |

Lol! J/k, the advice above is good and sound. Looking at your cart (newer precedent with 22" tires) as long as your pack is good, that would be a ~22 mph cart with speed code #4. You could try changing the speed magnet and cheat it some, just stay away from the Big Bad Inspector!! |

Re: 2012 CC - Need Speed Changed
Most RV parks have a 5 mph speed limit for a reason, kids.
The RV park that I stay in has a 5 mph speed limit even though we have constant problems with people driving 20 mph or so. I have slowed a few down through the yrs and chewed on a few as well. Just the other day I was easing around the park enjoying a cold one when a kid no older than 4-5 yrs old came out from behind a parked vehicle on a small bicycle right in front of me. Going as slow as I was, I could stop my cart on a dime. I've had grown people step from behind vehicles that never looked my way that I would have hit if I were moving fast. Didn't mean to change the topic. I'd still first check the batteries. |

Re: 2012 CC - Need Speed Changed
I would try to understand how they "Governed" the speed.
As mentioned before the Speed Code settings do not affect the torque, in reality You should have the most torque at low speed. If they somehow added a resistor to your throttle to keep it from reaching a high setting, then You would have little torque. You can disconnect the 16-pin connector from the Controller and measure the resistance between pins #1 and #2 (White and Yellow) from pedal Up to pedal Down. Make sure You disconnect the pack negative cable first and post your readings. |
