1998 club car ds powerdrive plus
Hello folks, my first post here. I'm new to working on electric carts and have a little experience with gas. I recently bought a 1998 ds powerdrive plus and I can't get it to run. I believe the controller is bad. Im not getting voltage to my solenoid on the small posts. I have checked the micro switch in the vglide, the f/r switch , the tow/run switch and they all check good. I can jump my solenoid across the two big terminals with the back of the cart jacked up and the tires will turn. I kept the jumper on it to just check out the power of the cart and tried to drive it up my driveway. I wouldn't make it up the smallest hill. I done a voltage drop on my batteries and they aren't dropping but about .2-.4 volts. Does this sound like a controller problem or am I missing something. Also, the resistor coil got really hot just driving about 100 feet. All the motor wires were cool. Thanks in advance for any input.

Does this cart have 2 solenoids? Sounds like it does/should.

Yes, it has one solenoid with the resistor coil and the other without.

The one without the resistor is the one I'm jumping.

OK. Neither solenoid is working. Those solenoids get the negative for the activation circuit from the controller. You need to find out if you are not getting the negative, not getting the positive, or you have 2 bad solenoids.

That big coil is for regen braking. Look in the "stickies" here and see if that diagram on the first page of diagrams matches your cart. i think it says 99- 02.

Ok. Not sure what you mean by stickies. But, I don't mind doing away with the Regan. So, you think that the big solenoid is not clicking in to release the Regan?
