hey guys, resently found one of the clutch buttons on my g9's helixs broken and replaced it, no issues ran great for a week. then today found another button, don't no if its the same one broken again. i'm got a 4'' lift and the spring and spacer kit on the driven. and i can feel the diffence the missing button makes, and need some input into why they keep breaking thanks for any insight!

also i'm using the old style, maybe the new style (ones found on the g16) be less prone to busting off?

Check the helix to see if it is worn (triangle part) and slipping on the inner sheave when it makes contact.

Replace them all as a set check for slop in the sliding bushing.

The slop contrary to thought will cause it to bind. It will let the sheave rock and do this\/ and bind up.

Ya , if you can afford it, get a new one, maybe you could find a good used one, of the new style, I would. The aluminum and the screw in ramps shoes are "beefer". Like DOOmsman, said...with the old style, change all 3 at the same time. How many times you want to do that job?

A friend had a set of old style ramp shoes brand new in the bag. When he installed them they were so brittle they just snapped. I don't know if they were super old or from china or what.

This is way too much typing.
With the clutch off and dissasembled lift the sheave up and hold up on one side with finger tips push down on the other side it should not BIND up, this is a subje&*% that word feel and you will scence feel if it shot.
GOOD LUCK

ok thanks guys. but i have a new issue anyways... drive clutch has a hole in the alum sliding sheave.... and it also has about an 1/8'' side to side play on the crank.

ok now for the good news. i've got a g16 clutch, with some minor damage that i think might work as long as it fits on a g9 crank. with some welding and a new (set?) of weights (its missing one) i think it will do. (sorry for all the typing dooms!)

if you can see the crack in the outside on the clutch on the g9 it goes all the way through to the other side... the pics of the clutch off the cart is the g16.

so will a g16 clutch fit on a g9? thanks guys for the help!
