Default not much power in reverse

Hi I am new to the site, any information would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1990 36 volt club car and it runs very good in forward, but in reverse it will only run very slow on flat ground, and will not go up an incline in reverse. Any Info. to solve this problem would be great.

Welcome to BGWHas it had this problem very long? did you just change some cables? sounds like their is a cable on the wrong battery. You should check the stickies for a battery diagram and make sure that the cables are in the right place.

Thanks for replying, I just bought it from a golf course and they told me it has less power in reverse for safety reasons, I checked the voltage in forward and reverse and there is only half the voltage in reverse, is there a simple way to fix this

Thats what its supposed to be.Its called half speed reverse. Where the cable is on the 2 middle batteries,I believe its a green cable, thats 18 volts. You could move it to another battery, but its just gonna be real fast in reverse.Take your voltmeter and find the next battery with more voltage and put it there. The only drawback is if somebody gets on it that doesnt know it could be disasterous.Wrecked Cart
