Re: Shorting out speed controllers
Are you saying there were some early Medalist bodies that had a Marathon controller drive underneath, or that 1994.5 was the transition from Marathon (Body and Drive) to Medalist (Body and Drive)?

Re: Shorting out speed controllers
Yes. Ezgo always made changes mid year so they never had parts left over.
If they had too many Marathon frames they just made a few more.... they even mixed and matched when the change was under the seat as in 86-87 and 00-01 A 1994 could one of 2 charger plugs or body style |

Re: Shorting out speed controllers
How important is the diode on the solenoid? Going through the wiring before I put power to the cart and noticed there is not one there. however, the resistor is. If it was operated without it, any possible damage.?

Re: Shorting out speed controllers
It is there to protect the contact surfaces in the microswitch at the gas pedal, and the controller from the voltage spike (can be over 1k volts) made when the solenoid opens. It will work without the diode, but its harder on the parts. I have never seen a controller fried where i could say "its because there was no diode on the contactor", but how can you tell after its fried. Alltrax will void your warranty if they know you didnt have one.

Re: Shorting out speed controllers
sounds to me like forward reverse switch contacts. undo battery terminal, pull the cap off forward reverse switch, pull the rod off the forward and reverse switch, on the back side facing the controller on the forward reverse switch there is a lock nut in between your heavy gauge wires. Pull that lock nut, and remove the cam out the forward reverse switch. Check the copper bolts on the cam and switch, make sure they r making contact.
