The controller will not engage the solenoid until there is a throttle signal.

Set your meter to 20vDC.

Measure between controller pin #2 - Yellow wire (MCOR wiper) and B-.

Pedal up to pedal down should go from 0.35v to 4.65v (approximately).

A few comments on Your tests:

7) The OBC reset does not sound off anything except in non-controller (old) carts.

12) It is important to verify you actually have +48v on Blue wire before putting paper clip on connector.
Thanks will try that in morning..

If he jumped both big solenoid cables don't that mean solenoid is not problem?

It is not about testing the solenoid, in a controller cart, unless the controller is the one that engaged the solenoid, the cart will not run even if you jump the big solenoid posts.

It may actually prevent the cart from running since some controllers compare the voltage before it engages the solenoid with the voltage after the solenoid should have been engaged. It may generate a "main welded" error condition if the voltage did not change.

That's the reason I read this site so much. Learn something new almost everyday.

Thanks Sergio.

I guess I used the word controller too generically, before someone points it out, let me re-qualify that:

Modern controllers that monitor and engage the solenoid will not work correctly if the solenoid is by-passed.

Older Series controllers were oblivious to the state of the solenoid.

Unplugged both plugs from mcor
3 pin plug
Yellow 0
White around 5
Purple white 0

Two pin plug
Blue 49
Green 0

Plugged them back in to mcor and then checked voltage at controller
Had around 3.9 v to yellow and b- with petal down in foward and reverse

some one told me I was testing the solenoid wrong..
before i was going from the neg on the #6 battery to the 4 terminals and voltage on all of them..

just retested to the pos and neg on the coil side of the solenoid, pressed the petal and had no voltage across the two

so problem before the solenoid somewhere im guessing

You need 2 different readings to make sure the solenoid activation is working:
1) From positive side of the solenoid coil to pack negative. You should get +48v after key switch is turned ON.
2) Across the solenoid coil. You should get +48v once pedal is pressed and controller activates the solenoid.

If the first reading is +48v, the entire troubleshooting needs to focus on the Controller getting the correct input signals it needs before it activates the solenoid.

Set Your meter to 200vDC.

Take all readings on the back of the controller connector in reference to pack negative.
Pin #6 - Green Wire (pedal microswitch) +48v once You press the pedal.

pin #5 - Light Blue wire (OBC lockout) +48v.

Pin #10 - Tan Wire (key switch) +48v once Key switch is ON

Pin #9 - Gray wire (RUN Mode) +48v if tow/run switch is on Run

Pin #16 - Blue (Forward direction) +48v when FNR is on Forward.
If You are only getting 3.9v on the Yellow wire with pedal down, You will not get full speed.

You may want to clean the 3 pin connector at the MCOR, and also press the Pedal Down and UP several times (20 or more) to make sure there is no oxidation inside the MCOR resistance track.

ok
solenoid
hold tester on pos and neg on coil side press petal down it shoots to 50 volt ( does not click) then starts blinking going down to 20 something then to 0 after about 2-3 sec......let off petal, press again shoots up to 50 then goes right back down to 0 ..did this about ten time in a row

going try some other test stated above
thanks

Are You not using a digital voltmeter?

If that crazy reading was taking across the 2 small posts on the solenoid, remove the diode and test again.

Pack negative is the battery post that connects to B-

Make sure that the diode side with a stripe is connected to the small post that gets +48v from key switch (light blue wire).
