Re: Building a mountain cart - suggestions
I have a feeling you are going to end up asking a little more from the cart than what's posted here. I would use an older 36v series Club Car for a base for 2 reasons;
1st. It's all aluminum frame makes it 300#s lighter. At the end of the day the power to weight ratio is the most critical factor in EV success. 2nd. The rear hubs are stronger than Ezgo. If you build it this will become an issue. Find a cart that needs batteries and tires for a few hundred dollars. COnvert it to solid state speed control with my C74 kit, add HD F&R, 2g cables, and D&D high torque motor for best results. Run it on 48v with the DPI charger. The cart will produce 3Xs original power and 15-18 mph. I think you will be pleased. Contact me by email for pricing |

Re: Building a mountain cart - suggestions
This is very helpful. Thanks all! Sure has me thinking. I'm considering lithium ion batteries due to what I've heard regarding 1) time to recharge being much less 2) weight to power ratio and 3) they hold up better in colder climates. I understand the cost being much more up front so need to dig into that a bit more.
I'll reach out to you Scotty. Appreciate the comments. |

I haven't tried a lithium pack but, I hear they can last 2 Xs as long as wet cell batts.
