Default 1992 DS Oil seal at Driven Clutch

I'm hoping this is a relatively easy fix.

I noticed oil all over my starter generator and it's belt, along with oil on the drive belt and surrounding area. It seems like it is coming from the oil seal on the transmission shaft that the driven clutch is on.

I have read that the driven clutch should come off without much trouble, and I am hoping that will be the case, but I have read a few horror stories here about some having difficulty. I did hit the shaft with penetrating oil and it is getting a good soak.

Anyways, I am hoping that once I remove the driven clutch, I will be able to remove the oil seal that is on that shaft that presses into the transmission housing.

Is this somewhat of a common issue? Does anyone have a part number for that seal? Anybody got any heads up or watch out for when I do the repair?

I keep the cart at the property 150 miles away, so I have to get everything ahead of time and take the parts to the cart. Laying on the ground in bear country to make this repair is gonna be fun too! Thanks, YD

Found this: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...sion-seal.html

Still would like to know if there are any "heads up" on replacement.

National seal #710316

I plan on punching a hole or two in the seal and using sheet metal screws to be able to pull the seal. Thanks, YD

I've not torn into one, but here's a diagram of your transmission. It looks like #26 is your seal (there's two of them pictured in the diagram, one over towards the left side and one towards the right).

The view is looking at the transmission from the back driver's side corner towards the front passenger's side corner:

Let us know how it goes.

Yes, thanks, that is the same diagram I looked at. I am hoping it will be straight forward. Will deal with it in the next couple of weekends when I head back up to the property. YD
