Carb tuning question
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows what the adjustment screw #3 does? Does it change the idling air intake or fuel? Also what direction of turn will increase or decrease the mixture? I had a spark plug foul with carbon (to rich I believe) and just want to make sure i have it set correctly. Thanks

Re: Carb tuning question
Btw, 2002 club car carryall and the screw has a stop on it only allowing about 3/4 of a turn of adjustment.

Re: Carb tuning question
According to another golf cart website, #3 is the low speed air/fuel mixture screw. According to the post, you are supposed to turn it in until it stops and then back it out 3/4 to 1 turn.

Re: Carb tuning question
Welcome to BGW Usie33!
I saw your other thread yesterday... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...-starting.html #3 is the idle/low rpm air/fuel mixture adjustment, and yes... it is preadjusted from the factory to only turn 3/4 of a turn! When you say "it was idling for about 10 minutes" that tells me that you have a "key start" cart! 90% of us have a "pedal start" cart, and 2% of us have a pedal start cart that idles! (like me!) I've also run into that problem with the plug fouling after a long period of time idling, I, however, had a larger jet in mine to coincide with a K&N air filter! I did a couple of things: 1) I changed my jet to a slightly smaller jet (but slightly larger then stock) 2) I changed my spark plug to a BPR4ES (slightly hotter) 3) I adjusted the mixture screw when it was idling for the best possible idle. and last but not least... I will not let it idle for long periods of time anymore! It's not a car, it was designed to start and stop, start and stop...etc. 2 words of advise... don't let it idle so long! And... If your cart is a "key start" carryall? try to note that every time you post a question! |

Re: Carb tuning question
Thanks Lockman appreciate your advice! New to the cart game, much to learn still. And yes it is a key start which i will note going forward.
One question on the idle/low rpm air/fuel mixture adjustment, what does turning the screw in or out do? Does turning it in provide less air during idle and turning it out provide more air? |

Re: Carb tuning question
I believe turning in = less air

Re: Carb tuning question
turning mixture screw in leans mixture. it is best not to let it idle long. If you get it too lean it will backfire. If you run it hard before parking it will keep carbon off. Is your air filter clean? check to see if choke airways are clear.
