Re: Rear wheel locked
Well it's not the motor. Got that taken off last night. Turning the exposed gear rotates the drivers side rear wheel. Hopefully today I can take the rear passenger wheel off and see what's going on in there.

Re: Rear wheel locked
That's on today's docket. Just been moving real slow around here. Finally got my brother over here yesterday to get the cart up on blocks so I can take the wheels off. But while I had him we removed the rear body, all the batteries and motor. When I say we I me he. I directed. I can handle the tire and hub now that it's in blocks.

Re: Rear wheel locked
If you have an old wheel take the center castle nut off and beat on the wheel from the back. It will give you more leverage.

Re: Rear wheel locked
I beat the hub off and...yahooo the spindle turns. When one wheel rotates forward the other rotates in the opposite direction. This poor cart has sat in a field and is badly rusted.
I removed the rest of the body and the battery holder. My brother brought me over a bed frame so I guess that will turn into a new holder. Seems I am going to end up with $100 in nuts and bolts because they are all so rusted I an basically having to grind and shear off most of them. Maybe tomorrow, if I can get a helper, will test the function of the brakes to see what needs to be done there. I can run the hubs through the lathe to turn them out. The plungers may be frozen. I suppose if mechanically everything checks out I will blast the frame, spray a rust converter on and paint the frame and then paint the body. Should look pretty good. Perfect timing because today I got my SPM48500 and solenoid from ScottyB so hopefully I will begin having extra parts for the fixer upper soon. |

Re: Rear wheel locked
I had one like that that had sat outside for an eternity. The brakes where left on and locked. After getting it up in the air everything had just rusted solid. The cables were froze up, and held the brake shoes down tight. COuld be a similar scenario
