Txt pds solenoid
I have a 2003 pds that quit while using it, the solenoid would kick in then kick out right away So found this site and tried to trouble shoot from all your info, so the solenoid had the same voltage on both sides so I order a new one from carts unlimited and installed still no go, but now the solenoid won't click on so jumped the negative and it clicks on without pressing foot pedal, if you press foot pedal you can see the motor twitch, so with jumping the neg the solenoid is alway on, Did voltage checks on all the j pegs like the diagrams I found on here ask and voltage comes back ok. Any thoughts. Thanks

Re: Txt pds solenoid
With a PDS controller, activating the solenoid is a two step process. First you have to get the controller to connect B+ to the yellow wire and then you have to get it to connect the blue wire to B-.
If you are getting the solenoid to click by jumping the blue wire to B-, the first step is being done by the controller. The controller is told to connect the blue wire to B- by the pedal switch, so either the pedal switch circuit is bad, or the controller is bad. If pack voltage (~38V) is being applied to J1 Pin-5 when pedal is pushed, the controller is bad. |

There is power on pin 5 constantly even if not pushed

Re: Txt pds solenoid
Sorry about that, I was think DCS when I should have been thinking PDS.
J1 Pin-5 ought to have pack voltage on them all the time. The pedal switch is between J4 Pins 1 & 2, so check them for voltage when pedal is pushed. |

Re: Txt pds solenoid
Ok on peg 1 I get good voltage with pedal pushed, zero volts when not pushed. Peg 2 always good voltage

Re: Txt pds solenoid
That says the controller isn't doing what it is being told to do, which means the controller is bad.
One more check I'd do before condemning the controller. Disconnect the jumper wire connecting B- to the blue wire on the solenoid. Measure the voltage on J1 Pin-6. (That is the other end of the blue wire) Should be full pack voltage before pedal is pushed (Voltage feeding through solenoid coil) and Zero after pedal is pushed. If there is any voltage on Pin-6 after pedal is pushed, flip Run/Tow to Tow, unplug J1 and spray clean the contacts in both plug and jack. |

Re: Txt pds solenoid
I'm about 3v lower than battery on pin 6 and it doesn't go down with pedal pushed Sprayed plug and connector still the same
