With either battery a real performance improvement can be had by replacing them with 6/8v batteries and matching components listed in previous posts.

I found during the testing I have done with sepex with motors wound for speed vs torque on flats vs grades, almost across the board there was about a 30~40% speed reduction on the same incline.

There seems to be a common misconception about torque and hill climbing speed. While more current does produce more torque the way that relates to a hill is not going up it faster...but being able to climb it at all. If your flat speed doesn't increase neither will your uphill.
