Yeah, jack up the rear of the cart- take a 6 gauge battery cable and hold it on the large post of the solenoid and step on the throttle, cart runs, bad solenoid, doesn't run, check, F/R switch, Motor, and controller.

Directions say " hold it (the jump cable) on the large post(s) of the solenoid "

Is this saying "hold one end of cable on one post and other end on the other post"?

If you want a slower less cavalier method install the cable between the the two large terminals. Or as most people do not have an extra battery cable laying around I say - move one big cable so that both large solenoid cables are bolted on the same terminal.

Scottyb beginning to better your advice on troubleshooting. I have 38V on battery pack. I have 38V on terminal on solenoid and have 36.4V on control terminal of solenoid. The other interesting thing is that the readings are the same with switch and F/R on or off?

I'm gonna take a guess here Humpty. Remove the precharge resistor on the large terminals and re test.

Voltage on the controller side of the relay will likely be zero. The precharge resistor trickles a small amount of power around the solenoid to keep the controller capacitors nearly full. Capacitors can accept & deliver power at lightning speed, and filling empty capacitors through the solenoid contacts every time the gas is pressed greatly increases wear on the contacts inside the solenoid.
